Welcome to the Harmony VFD Website
Harmony Fire Department serves the Harmony, Turnersburg, and Olin area. Our Fire district is a 6 mile radius. There are 4 schools, 65 chicken houses, 66 farms/dairy barns, 25 churches and numerous other businesses in addition to homes in our district.
We recently completed our state inspection on fire service and received an insurance rating of 6. Our goal was to get the homeowners insurance lowered. The Firemen do many things other than fire calls such as wreck calls, fire alarms, bomb threats, assist on medical calls and many more. Some of the public service they do is cutting trees out of the roadways during storms, assist in flood conditions and go to the schools to teach the children about the fire service, chimney checks and smoke detectors.
We have two paid Firemen on duty @ Harmony Station Mon. - Fri. from 6:00am-5:00pm to be of more assistance to you. They are also volunteers the rest of the time. The Firemen volunteer their time for all these things because they really care about their neighbors and this community. In addition to all they do to help us they still must complete the required training requirements to be able to be a Fireman.
The services rendered today are a result of the support of the community and the foundation laid by former Chiefs and Firemen. Increasing cost plus a growing population means there must be more support given to keep the Fire Department operating efficiently. Harmony has one of the best Fire Departments in Iredell Co. They appreciate all the support from the community and are proud to serve you. Their current fundraisers are a picture drive and their BBQ’s in November & May.
With the help of the Community we built our 1st Station in 1963, located @ 116 E. Memorial Hwy.
In 2009 we built and moved into our new 9600 sq.ft.Station @ 3351 Harmony Hwy.
This Station houses 7 trucks We also have a sub-station in the Olin Area that houses 5 trucks.
To protect and serve our Community. We have 5 part-time employees who are at the Station Monday- Friday from 6am-5pm. Our Fireman are required to have 36 hours of training a year and run 5% of calls. Many of them put in a lot more than the requirements.
